We have had continued successes with our screenwriting.  One screenplay in particular has garnered great attention… first in 2009 when, after placing second in the OBS Screenplay Competition, we received an opportunity to discuss our work with executives at Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

Then, in 2010, we were an official selection in the Beverly Hills Film Festival.   You can read more about that festival (and see our collection of photographs) in our previous blog.

This year, we achieved a coveted spot in the Cinequest Film Festival.  Following is an excerpt from the letter we received:

Hello Dwayne,

Congratulations! It is with great honor that I tell you that your screenplay has been chosen to be a Top 10 finalist in the Cinequest Film Festival 21 Screenwriting Competition.

Being a finalist in this competition is an extraordinary accomplishment and you should feel tremendous pride in having reached such a level. Selecting the top 10 entries was an exceptional challenge for the Cinequest jury. Over 400 screenplays were submitted this year. Each script was meticulously scrutinized for strength of story, dialogue, structure, development, characters, formatting, and Maverick originality.

We hope that you will attend the Cinequest Film Festival to enjoy all of the benefits you receive at a top 10 finalist, and to attend the Day of the Writer where the Grand Prize winner will be announced.

Once again, congratulations on your accomplishment,

Halfdan Hussey, Co-Founder & Director, Cinequest
Marguerite Anderson, Competition Manager

Where does one go after three consecutive home runs?  We hope to make it to the home plate!

Beverly Hills Film Festival

Our screenplay Julie 2.0 was a featured selection in the 2010 Beverly Hills Film Festival. It was an honor to meet and mingle with Hollywood greats such as Elliot Gould, Kate Maberly, Quinton Aaron… and the past and present mayors of Beverly Hills.

This was the second of three major acknowledgements of our writing. The first was the 2009 OBS Screenplay contest, which won us an opportunity to pitch to Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

The next? Coming soon…

Meanwhile, enjoy these photos from the grand event:
